Conference on the EU-Mercosur trade agreement:
Which impacts on agriculture, food safety, the environment and climate?
organized by the Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation in the Egmont Palace in Brussels on Friday the 6th of December 2019, between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM.
The objective of this event is twofold:
1) to contribute to an informed debate on the agreement, bringing concrete elements from different perspectives to the table in order to better understand the agreement and its scope, as well as the concerns of the stakeholders; and
2) to take stock of the opportunities and potential risks related to the agreement.
Following a keynote speech by H.E. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and an introduction by the European Commission, two panel discussions will be organized. The first one will address agriculture and food safety concerns and the second one will discuss the impact on climate and the environment. A networking lunch will be offered afterwards.
A detailed program will be shared closer to the event, but on the web-portal you can already find some of the questions that will be addressed.
