The response to the Covid-19 pandemic has seen the greatest act of global solidarity the world has ever seen as we have acted together to contain the spread of the virus.

And while we all agree that managing the health crisis is the overwhelming priority the social and economic consequences are and will be dramatic in an already troubled world.

The ITUC is asking for your support to help Climate- and Employment-Proof Our Work on the #CEPOW Global Day of Action 24 June.

Before the pandemic spread from continent to continent, we faced a convergence of crises and the climate emergency is and will remain an imperative for action to save human beings from extinction.

That action starts with us. Last June, from Somalia to New Zealand, workers in over 23 countries took in the first Climate-Proof our Workplaces day of action.

This year we know that jobs and employment are serious concerns for people, that’s why we need to have the conversation about both climate and employment.

We know the world cannot go back to business as usual – recovery plans must ensure a socially just future, along with plans to Climate-and Employment-Proof our Work.

You can join us by taking part in the biggest global conversation about our future with your employer, small businesses that you support, and local and national governments. You can take part virtually or in person.

Let’s get ready for 24 June, sign up to take part and get the campaign pack.

Workers around the world will invite their employers to share a conversation to discuss the plans for resilience and sustainable business — safety, jobs, emissions, a secure pathway for the future.

That’s the strength of leadership needed from all of us.

In solidarity,

Sharan Burrow,

General Secretary, ITUC
